Meet the Leaders

Chris Heckman "Chris" or "Mr. Heckman" - Main Leader

Chris has been involved with the R/C Car Club for over 30 years.  Starting in 1992 as a member, Chris spent 8 years holding such positions as club Vice President and President.  After reaching the age where he could no longer remain a member, Chris stayed on as a Junior Leader for 1 year, graduating to Co-Leader the next.  After spending 1 year as Co-Leader, the Main Leader resigned and Chris took over in his place.  Chris has enjoyed his many years with the club and still has his R/C Car collection which he is known to break out for some meetings, and at the Fair time, for some fun racing.

Rob Bishop "Mr. Bishop" - Co-Leader and Track Leader

Rob became involved with the R/C Car Club about 20 years ago when his son Randy joined as a member.  After a year or so, when the club was looking for co-leaders, Rob stepped up.  Rob assists in the day to day running of the club and has even spearheaded projects such as creating a frequency board for fun racing at the Fair and working on creating a lap counting system.  Rob is very good with electronics and has developed an interest himself in the R/C Cars and on a lucky occasion, you may catch him racing around.

Joan Heckman "Mrs. Heckman" - Volunteer

Joan became involved with the R/C Car Club in 1992 when her son Chris (now Main Leader) joined as a member.  After 4 years, the leadership resigned and Joan and her husband Fred stepped up to Co-Lead the club with then leader, Rich Riley.  Once her son graduated as a member, Joan stepped down from the leader position, although always staying around to help.  After taking a short 2 year break, when her son became Main Leader, Joan became very actively involved again.  Joan handles a lot of the paperwork and is responsible the Fair display creation.
